10-year anniversary: STRUGGLE LEADS TO GROWTH Ten years ago, I was informed by my incredible husband that he, Edgar, was determined to open his own shop. He asked me to join him stating that it would be best if we did it together. But if I declined, he was going to do it anyway. Not much of a choice, right? WE could do it or HE would do it – either way it was HAPPENING, so I stepped up. For the entire first year I experienced involuntary muscle spasms every night (my body trying to process the stress). After that first year, I was willing to admit to Edgar that HE WAS RIGHT, and while I know he loves to hear those precious three words, he has never stooped to saying, “I told you so”. Edgar knew a lot about fixing cars and helping customers but together we learned the business side of the automotive industry. Over the years we’ve learned a lot - some lessons harder than others – and can truly be grateful for them all because we now know ... read more

February – A Great Time for Some SELF-CARE! By Reneé Leon This February, show some love and appreciation to those around you but don’t forget about #1 – the person looking back at you in the mirror each day! There is a lot of valid emphasis being put on self-care, and for good reason. “In a national survey, Americans cited benefits of self-care as: enhanced self-confidence (64%), increased productivity (67%), happiness (71%). From a physical health perspective, self-care also reduces heart disease, stroke, and cancer. (By Mental Health First Aid USA on March 14, 2022) You’ve heard it said before, but it bears repeating – you can’t care for others if you don’t first take care of yourself. Self-care activities should help you to create balance and wellness in various ... read more

Maybe DON'T with the New Year Resolutions...Here's why! by Reneé Leon If you read to the bottom of each monthly newsletter, you’ll always find a cheesy joke. This year, I came across this joke that made me pause (still read to the end for the ACTUAL cheesy joke of the month): How can you be more efficient with New Year’s Resolutions?Make a copy of your list so you can pull it out again next year! This made me pause because it is often accurate. A dear friend (that’s you, Sarah) pointed out that the better time to assert oneself and make change is in the Spring or Fall. She cited that January is typically COLD (at least in our state) with fewer hours of daylight; lack of sunlight affects human moods (ever heard of Seasonal Affected Disorder?) while snow makes everything harder. The most common Resolutions are about improving diet, exercise, and productivity – all things made h ... read more

November… Being GUSHY About Gratitude By Renee’ Leon Newsletters will be popping up all month and the lowest hanging content-fruit: GRATITUDE. It’s a popular theme and rightly so! Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley—a leader in research on the science of social and emotional well-being—describes gratitude as the “social glue” key to building and nurturing strong relationships. Read more here: https://www.mindful.org/the-science-of-gratitude/ This month, I’d like to share MY gratitude for our customers and our Team. I’m grateful for the support of loyal customers and their many referrals, as well as new customers, willing to give us a chance. Fall = Time to Literally & Figuratively “CHILL” ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ By Renee Leon October is one of my favorite months. School is well underway, the changing season can be seen and felt, and goofy Halloween decor is showing up in our neighborhood. It’s a delightful month before the year speeds to a close with a busier social calendar and year-end deadlines. Consider taking October to pause and chill while you can. Savor a warm drink (perhaps a pumpkin spiced latter?) and maybe take a trip to the mountains to witness the gorgeous fall foliage. This chill-time is also an ideal time to catch up on the tasks you meant to do but that fell off the list in the busy-ness of August and September. Make the appointments – dentist, veterinary checkups, wellness checks, and car maintenance (see the Winterizing Special below 😉) Call your childhood/college bestie back and enjoy a meandering conversation Skip the endless scrolling on social me ... read more

How 10 Minutes & A Vision Map Can Help You Achieve Your 2022 Goals Before The Year Ends By Reneé Leon In September we transition from summer to fall and we can feel 2022 racing to the finish line. In Colorado, fall is often a seasonal “blip” and we move quickly into winter. Now is the time to consider the goals we set in January and if they can still be achieved! The transition from summer to fall is a great time to reassess, reengage, or at least REMEMBER some of our goals, personal and professional. Spend 10 minutes ranking the various aspects of your life on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being dissatisfied and 10 being ecstatic. Evaluate where you’d rank your satisfaction with family, work, relationships, sleep, and health (physical, mental, and spiritual). This can help you organize your vision map. By using a vision map (like a “GPS”), you can creatively plan ways around obstacles that crop ... read more
