3 Simple Tricks to Reduce Solicitations

I am not alone when I admit that I use my phone at some point during nearly every waking hour of the day. Is that a brag? Definitely not but it is an honest statement. From meditation and fitness to family meal planning, veterinary appointments to office tasks, my phone is a part of it ALL. When I get a random phone call trying to solicit my business, I’m less than thrilled. Try these 3 Simple Tricks to reduce invasive solicitations!
Credit and Insurance Solicitations
I saw this tip from our Mortgage Broker, Dave King, and HAD to pass this on! Consumer Credit Reporting Companies (Equifax, Innovis and TransUnion) are permitted, by law, to sell consumer’s information to solicitors after they apply for a new card, auto loan, mortgage, or other lines of credit. As a result, consumers can get bombarded with numerous unwanted phone, text, and email solicitations.
Follow the steps below to stop and opt-out of this invasive practice.
- Visit OptOutPrescreen.com and select “Click Here to Opt-In or Opt-Out” button.
- Complete the Electronic Opt-Out Request
- Your request becomes effective with the credit bureaus within a few days. Then, for five years, you will be opted out of credit and insurance solicitation lists.
Telemarketing Calls
You can register your phone numbers on the Do Not Call Registry to stop Telemarketers from blowing up your phone. Register your number(s) at https://www.donotcall.gov/.
Robo Call Scammers
Most people use a cell phone and all the major cell service carriers are helping to reduce the amount of scam calls. If you get a lot of robo calls, you may want to consider reaching out to your provider and inquiring about a Call Filter. Some companies charge extra for the service but for some people, that fee may be worth it! There are also apps that you can download but I haven’t tried any. If YOU have one to recommend, I’d love to hear about it!
