5 Winter Holiday Travel Tips
By Renee Leon
December often means road trips and whether you’re driving across town, state, or country, you’ll want to ensure that your vehicle is ready for winter conditions. Please consider the following 5 winter travel tips!
- Tires - Winter brings fluctuating temperatures, which can cause tire pressure to vary. Ensuring your tires are properly inflated can help you avoid the risks of underinflated tires in cold weather.
- Wipers & Lights - Checking all your vehicle's lights and replacing wiper blades ensures you can see and be seen on the road.
- Batteries – A slow engine crank is often a sign that your battery is weak. If your headlights are dimmer than usual, especially when idling, it could indicate your battery is not supplying enough power. Experiencing problems with your car’s electrical components, such as power windows, radio, or dashboard lights, can indicate a weak battery.
- Gas – I know, DUH, but its worth mentioning that in cold weather conditions, it’s best to not let your gas tank get below ¼ tank. When the tank is low, condensation can form and potentially freeze, which could block your fuel lines and prevent your car from starting.
- Safety reminders – Be mindful of how you are hauling gifts and food carriers. Remember that even small, lightweight items can be dangerous projectiles in even a minor accident. Limit loose items in the passenger/driver areas of the vehicle; safely stow items in the trunk or use a cargo net to keep items in the rear of an SUV.
If you want/need any inspections or services, please schedule asap so you’ll be ready in plenty of time. Have a safe and joyful December!
Shop News
Shop owners, Renee & Edgar, finally made it to SEMA and AAPEX! In early November they made their way to Las Vegas to join 128,000 other automotive industry personnel. In order to attend SEMA, we had to PROVE that we work in the industry (biz license, tax ids, and paystubs)! Upon arrival they understood why: exhibitors spend big money and time to attend and promote their wares! They saw specialized tools, shop software solutions, recreation vehicles and accessories, aftermarket parts, body shop materials and tools, and MORE! These events filled the Las Vegas Convention Center as well as the Venetian Expo Center! The displays and modified vehicles were unlike anything they’d ever seen. While there, they of course had to go to a Cirque du Soleil show, “O” at the Bellagio = WOULD RECOMMEND! Big thanks for the team holding down the fort while we were away!
