10 Things to NOT Keep In Your Car
By Renee Leon
The month of May boasts many reasons to travel and gather with friends and family - Graduations, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and more! If you’re like me, you pack items including food, water, and attire needs, plus you’ll be considering traffic and driving times.
TAKE NOTE of the following 10 things to NOT store in your car:
- AEROSOL CANS. On hot days, these can explode, injuring passengers or damaging the interior!
- ART SUPPLIES. Crayons, markers, and paints can melt on hot days, damaging upholstery. On cold days, they can freeze and no longer be useful.
- ELECTRONICS. Leaving phones, tablets, and laptops in your vehicle makes it a target for theft. Plus, hot days can damage circuits, limit battery life and make batteries burst.
- FOOD. Attracts pests and will go bad over time. Keep emergency food in a hard storage container and regularly replace it.
- GLASSES. When left in a built-in compartment, hot temperatures can warp plastic lenses and frames.
- GYM CLOTHES. Leaving sweaty clothes in your car can cause stains to set in and make the whole vehicle smell.
- IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS. Only keep your registration and insurance card in the vehicle.
- MEDICATIONS. These can be ineffective if exposed to hot or cold temperatures.
PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES. Exposed to heat, plastic can break down, leaching chemicals into the water. - SUNSCREEN. Direct sunlight may significantly degrade ingredients, offering you little or no protection.
BONUS ITEM – Backpacks or bags of any kind. Thieves know that they very often include a computer or other valuables. Obscure them or remove them, just in case!
Lastly, please prioritize small businesses right now. Times are feeling uncertain and hard for many, so check on your friends who run/work for a small business. Knowing they have your support will mean a lot to them and, by extension, our community.
Another team member graduated from Discover Leadership Training! Congrats to our Shop Foreman, Travis Akers! He described the trainings as “a profound, life-changing roller coaster”!
When we say we are investing in our team and our community, we really mean it!

Immersive shows are SOOOOO fun! Consider getting to this one and let me know what you think!Remember Me May 1-3rd and 8th-11th at the Aurora People’s Building
Remember Me is a new interactive immersive show from One More Time in collaboration with Two Cent Lion. The show explores the relationship between a daughter, a father, and the technology we have seemingly left behind. We meet Alice in the "Museum of Obsolete Technology" that her father built, but had not yet opened to the public. Here we help Alice uncover where her missing father has gone, by searching for clues in his museum, solving puzzles, and perhaps finding some forgotten parts of ourselves as well.
