As Independence day rolls in and families in the Aurora community celebrate with food, fireworks, and good company, July marks a significant moment for Aurora, Colorado. Shortly after midnight on July 20th, 2012, life changed forever for our city. A killer struck at the Midnight premiere of the third Batman film by Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight Rises.” In mere minutes, this lone killer’s evil act cut short the lives of 13 people, left scars for many survivors, as well as countless emotional scars on those attending and those witnessing the aftermath. Shock and disbelief followed this cowardly attack. There were no motives beyond a person’s desire to commit a heinous murder. How could anyone do such a thing in our town? “This isn’t what Aurora is like... this isn’t who we are,” some said. When the numbness left us, anger settled in. There was an element of insult to the crime that someone could perpetrate mass m ... read more

Photo by Holly Mandarich on Unsplash While primarily temperate in the summer, Colorado weather can be unpredictable. We know to expect hot, dry summers, but at any time, unexpected rains can come– just as unexpected snow comes in late Spring. The long, hot summer can wear out our windshield wipers, cracking the rubber. It’s vital to always have clear eyes on the road when you’re driving. Just as distractions can cause terrible accidents, so can a lack of perception of potential threats due to an obscured or cloudy windshield. It’s essential to check on the condition of your wipers and make sure they are at their best. An obstructed wiper, unable to cross a windshield gracefully, is ineffe ... read more

Photo by Jakob Rosen on Unsplash Mother’s Day and Graduation 2022 have nearly arrived. 2022 is marching on rapidly, and we’re nearly halfway through the year. Colorado is getting on with things, even though gas prices are still very high. With any luck, things will calm down and prices will drop again. But right now, it’s putting a damper on the events we travel long distances to, just as COVID-19 has. Both May and June have some anticipated travel in them where we’ll potentially need to drive long distances. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 8th. And in June, we can expect the new graduates of 2021-2022 to march to Pomp & Circumstance in rented robes and mortar hats once aga ... read more

Image by Comfreak from Pixabay Believe it or not, Bomb cyclones are a real thing that Coloradans must brace for in our uncertain climate. A bomb cyclone, or ‘explosive cyclogenesis,’ is pretty much exactly how it sounds – a meteorological bomb! When storms decrease in pressure by 24 millibars or more in a 24-hour period, this means they are strengthening, creating primary conditions for a bomb cyclone – causing intense precipitation and very high winds. They can occur any time of the year in any area of the world where the conditions and ingredients are present. The sudden dip in pressure can potentially cause a bomb cyclone with lots of rain, snow, high winds, a ... read more

Photo by Karsten Winegeart on Unsplash With February being a month with winter and St. Valentine’s Day in it, it’s an interesting part of our annual cycle. It’s a time where we’re running on empty in preparation for the renewal of spring. Valentine’s Day is an excellent excuse to replenish your relationships. Couples old and young begin to reconnect and renew their love with gifts, intimate time together, extra care for each other, and expressing their love. At Aurora AutoPros, we’d like to point out that, whether you anthropomorphize your vehicle or not, you do have a relationship with your car based on trust and care. You need your car to be there for you in a reflex moment or a potentia ... read more

Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash As the calendar turns to the new year, we usually see many people making resolutions to improve the quality of their lives. “New Year, New Me” is an annual concept as people begin working on their resumes, starting diets, exercising, or putting down their cigarettes. Some themes revolve around trimming down, especially waistlines and budgets. People change a minor factor in their lives and watch it have a ripple effect of positive outcomes if they can just hang on long enough to their resolution. For some, it’s a more significant change. They’re embracing the kind of person they’d like to be, emulating a hero. They are working to be their idea ... read more

Photo from the Aurora AutoPros website Welcome to December, friends! It’s a beautiful month for giving and receiving, for renewing old acquaintances, and for sharing a bit of cheer with friends and family, or in some cases, with complete strangers. In 2020, the annual statewide campaign raised more than $50 million in 24 hours; for local charities and nonprofit groups! This celebration of giving helps donors give where they live to the causes they care about most. Aurora AutoPros loves participating in Colorado Gives Day.
