Showing Your Love for Your Car

With February being a month with winter and St. Valentine’s Day in it, it’s an interesting part of our annual cycle. It’s a time where we’re running on empty in preparation for the renewal of spring. Valentine’s Day is an excellent excuse to replenish your relationships. Couples old and young begin to reconnect and renew their love with gifts, intimate time together, extra care for each other, and expressing their love.

At Aurora AutoPros, we’d like to point out that, whether you anthropomorphize your vehicle or not, you do have a relationship with your car based on trust and care. You need your car to be there for you in a reflex moment or a potential accident. Your car can’t repair itself and requires you to see to the upkeep it needs.

That’s why we’d recommend that you show some love for your car this month. Bond with it in ways you may not have used in some time. Here are some of our suggestions, many of which work as well for your life partner as your commute partner:

Gifts - while a life partner may resent having to share a gift sometimes, or a gift that benefits you as well as them, your car doesn’t feel anything. But even if you highly anthropomorphize your vehicle, it won’t be upset with a mutual gift unless YOU decide to feel upset. So buying a better phone mount, new floor guards, or upholstery treatments is a gift for both of you, making your driving experience all the more pleasant. Treat your car, treat yourself!

Intimate time together - if you’ve mostly had a home-work-home grind for the past few months, consider taking a break with your car– a drive somewhere, preferably right after getting a tune-up or an oil change. There’s freedom and happiness in driving a favorite car when it feels new.

Extra care for each other - just like it’s essential to understand your partner’s struggle and character, it’s important to know what your car struggles with and how it needs your help. Paying a little more attention to how you park, where you park, and what surrounds you is crucial. It’s also wise to read the owner’s manual. It’s surprising how few people have read the manual of a device that cost them tens of thousands of dollars. But doing so can unlock incredible secrets your car carries, things it could be doing for you but won’t, because you don’t know what it’s capable of doing.

Expressing your love - one of the kindnesses you can give your car is a car wash. Studies show that clean vehicles tend to be safer cars. It might be because cleaning a car invests the owner in protecting the beautiful finish of a vehicle they’ve just washed, or it might be because washing the car makes you more aware of its dimensions and boundaries. Either way, a cleaner car is a healthier car.
