Welcome to December, friends! It’s a beautiful month for giving and receiving, for renewing old acquaintances, and for sharing a bit of cheer with friends and family, or in some cases, with complete strangers. At Aurora AutoPros, we hold December the 7th in particular esteem this year -- because that’s the day Colorado Gives!
Colorado Gives Day makes good things happen for more than 3,000 local nonprofits. What began in 2010 as a modest grassroots movement has blossomed into one of the most significant giving days in the US. In 2020, the annual statewide campaign raised more than $50 million in 24 hours; for local charities and nonprofit groups! This celebration of giving helps donors give where they live to the causes they care about most.
Aurora AutoPros loves participating in Colorado Gives Day. We have made donations to Ready To Work Aurora, Comitis Homeless Shelter, and DAVA -- Downtown Aurora Visual Arts. Among our staff, each of our team members seems to have their own favorite nonprofit they’d like to highlight:
Edgar’s is Comitis Crisis Center, which offers a variety of programs supporting individuals in recovery from trauma, mental health and substance abuse challenges, and homelessness.
Renee loves DAVA, whose purpose is to provide challenging, relevant art programs with the greater goal of affecting positive change in the community through youth development and education.
Jose G. loves the Prison Fellowship, which looks to make sure that the children of prisoners have sweet memories of Christmas.
Pedro is a fan of the Denver Dumb Friends League, an animal shelter that offers adoption and fostering for pets and found strays.
Jose M. recommends Bridgehouse and Ready To Work-Aurora, which works to help the homeless rejoin society.
Juan loves St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, the Danny Kaye-founded charity dedicated to researching and defeating illnesses and diseases affecting young children.
(Also, one of our good customers recommended Cayleb’s Kindred Senior Dog Rescue, which offers sanctuary and care for older animals who may have a more challenging time finding loving homes and wind up on shelter euthanasia lists.)
