Tips on Staying Cool in July
by Renee Leon

I can’t help anyone with coolness in the popularity sense (I fully embrace my dork side) but I can speak to the temperature sort of coolness! Here are a few tips/reminders on how to stay cool this summer!

  • Use a Sunshade – Put up that sunshade when parking in the sun. It helps to reduce the greenhouse effect in your car, keeping it cooler, AND will protect your dash a bit. If you are concerned about the dashboard fading and cracking, consider a dashboard cover.
  • Crack the windows – Heat rises! A little crack in the window gives an exit to some of that hot air. Theft is a concern, I know, but a very small window crack is sufficient.
  • Park in the shade  – If you can find a shady parking spot, you’re WINNING the day, even if you have to walk further. Actually, the extra steps means you are DOUBLY winning!
  • Blast it  –  When you first start the car, open all the windows and blast the A/C to clear a lot of that heat!
  • A/C Maintenance – You knew that was coming, right? Poorly performing a/c will make a summer road trip miserable so be sure to keep your vehicle’s a/c maintained.

Wanna save MONEY on your summer road trips?  We have an awesome blog writer, Brooke, who wrote some fabulous tips in the July Blog found on our website. It’s a quick read and I love the helpful tips she shared!

Summer is flying by, and we are enjoying hearing the travel stories and plans from LOTS of customers. Please be aware that this is a BUSY season and while our team is AWESOME, they won’t be rushing through services and risking quality. Please remember to schedule in advance – we are grateful to be busy and we don’t want to disappoint last minute callers when we are fully booked.

In other news, you may have seen/heard that we now have TWO artists exhibiting art in our lobby. Tim Roybal with Starfire Designs and Steven Stokes both have distinct styles and BOTH have art for sale, more that what you see in our lobby! As a matter of fact, Steven just sold the piece that was in our lobby last month so take note of the newest piece he has on exhibit.  We very much appreciate that our Artist customers exhibit their work in our lobby and love when they sell their art! 😊

Each year, the 7/20 Memorial Foundation holds an annual fundraiser surrounding the memorial that is the centerpiece to Aurora’s Water Wise Garden. Their signature annual event’s name has changed from "Reflection Garden on Tap," to the “Day of Resilience.” The Day of Resilience is a beloved gathering that draws in over a dozen beer vendors, healing & wellness booths, food trucks, and sidewalk chalk artists, along with musical entertainment.

The festivities will kick off on Saturday July 20th, 2024 with DJ Sinna-G at 7:30 AM, followed by the start of the 3rd annual "The Hero's Journey" 5k Run/Walk at 8:00 AM, which is organized by Zack Golditch, a survivor of the shooting, former NFL player, and now a firefighter in Colorado. While attendees explore our wellness booths, hear live music, and partake in beer tasting (for those over 21) from 8:00 AM to 12:00 pm our talented chalk artists will be creating stunning works of art around our beautiful memorial. Each creation will reflect the event's theme of "Reflections of Resilience" and inspire attendees to spread hope, love, and positivity in their lives and communities.

  • Register for Run/Walk here.
  • If you are interested in volunteering, chalking, donating, being a vendor, or sponsorship - please email: [email protected]
