July Tips to Being Cool & Staying Cool

By Renee Leon

We all want to be cool, literally and figuratively, right? Well, maybe some of us have let go of societal definitions of “cool”, but we surely want to enjoy friends and family this July and to stay cool along the way. Here are some tips for being Colorado Cool!

First, a song called Colorado Cool by La Femme - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C3muG249ns

Next, schedule some cool outdoor activities. Find one of MANY unique coffee shops like Jubilee Roasting Co or The French Press! Maybe check out a Saturday Farmer’s Market near you! Try Rebel Marketplace (312 Del Mar Cir) or Southland’s Farmer’s Market (6100 S. Main St). First Saturdays of the month, check out Colfax Art Jams!

As things heat up, head indoors for a movie, or head to the library! You could also enjoy some shopping at Aurora Town Center or Stanley Marketplace - they ALWAYS have new and interesting pop-up shops. OR go jump in a lake! Hop on a paddle board or rent a canoe at Aurora Reservoir or Cherry Creek State Park!

In the evenings, find a shady picnic spot and dine outdoors! Pack up a simple meal (or a feast) and head to one of many Aurora parks for some water and sunset views, trails, and lawns! Aurora Reservoir, cherry Creek State Park, Jewell Wetlands Park, Olympic Park, and Sand Creek Park!

Maybe head out for some culture! Theaters like Aurora Fox and Vintage Theatre are serving up incredible productions to make you ponder and laugh. Or find a free outdoor concert at Southlands Mall.

Lastly, Aurora has incredible breweries that host events (trivia, yoga, comedy and pop-up experiences), support local causes, and of course, serve up creatively delicious new brews! Colorado ranks 4th in breweries per capita in the U.S.; Aurora has 10 craft breweries! I recommend Lady Justice Brewing Company and Haykin Family Cider as well as Launch Pad Brewery and Dry Dock Brewing Company.

For more ideas, check out Visit Aurora!

Of course, most of you will drive to these cool places. If you want to be cool while en route, be sure to have your vehicle’s A/C working at peak performance. 😊 Call us if you aren’t feeling cool (but be sure to take advantage of our July A/C special)!

What’s New at the Shop

We are making great strides in cleaning up and preparing unit A! So far, we’ve renovated the office and bathroom in Unit A, knocked out most of the wall between Units A and B, painted the floors in both units, and have moved the lifts from B to A. By the time you read this we SHOULD have our newest piece of equipment installed and in action: our own ALIGNMENT MACHINE! I, Renee’, could never have imagined being so excited about buying an alignment machine! Watch social media feeds for videos about it!

Community NEWS

We are proud to be sponsoring the Reflection Garden on Tap: Metamorphosis; Aurora Theater: 10 Years Later

Renee’ has been volunteering as the Creative Director for the immersive art event and helping with various other event planning for the day’s events. There is something for everyone on Saturday, July 23rd on the Great Lawn of the Aurora Municipal Center and Memorial Garden.

  • A Hero’s Run 5k organized by Zack Golditch, a survivor of the shooting and former NFL player, and now fire fighter in Colorado. The run will raise money to create the Zack Golditch Opportunity scholarship for an Aurora Public Schools student athlete. To donate to the scholarship and for more information about the run, follow this link.
  • Early afternoon, we will be hosting a community reflection ceremony with speakers including Senator John Hickenlooper, retired police chief Dan Oates, retired City Manager Skip Noe, and other first responders and survivors.
  • Following the Reflections ceremony, we will open the festival and beer garden.
  • The phenomenal chalk artists will be creating paper cranes leading from the great lawn to the memorial garden as well as art throughout the festival.
  • We have expanded the beer garden onto the Great Lawn of the Aurora Municipal Center and added food trucks, lawn games and 2 band: Latin Sol and Brushfire.
  • Over 20 local and craft breweries including Resolute, Dry Dock and Boulevard will be participating in the beer garden, with tasting wrist bands being sold to raise funds for the foundation.
  • The evening will conclude with Stratus Chamber Orchestra, LIfe/Art Dance Ensemble and DAVA (Down Town Visual Arts) creating an immersive audio visual experience called Metamorphosis that will be introduced by Assetou Xango, Poet Laureate.
